Negotians Vinarius "Pošip" 2019

$35.00

GRAPES: 100% POŠIP

SKIN CONTACT: 3 DAYS

REGION: KORČULA, CROATIA

Vinification method: Wine has been produced on Croatia's Korčula island since before the Roman Empire. During the Empire's peak, the traders who supplied the Roman court with the island's wine were called "Negotians Vinarius."

This wine is a collaboration between organic farmer Petar Marinovic and Marko Kovac, the founder of Karakterre wine fair. The Pošip grapes are destemmed and macerated for 3 days in a cellar beneath Petar’s mother’s home. They're then pressed by hand in an old wooden basket press, spontaneously fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged one year in those same tanks, undergoing malolactic fermentation in the process. Unfined, unfiltered, and a minimal amount of SO2 added at bottling.

Tasting notes: full-bodied, caramel, preserved apricot, walnuts, nutmeg, vanilla, sherry-esque saline finish

Pairings: Moroccan lamb stew, braised pork jowls

Mix and match 3, 6 or 12 bottles!
