Producer information:
The Skegro family vineyards are mostly consisted of vines planted in 2005 in the small village of Radišići, in the southwestern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They have 2 hectares of south facing and terraced vineyards, which were cut into the hillside, rich with calcareous marl, sandstone and flint. Mostar, being within an hour from the Croatian coastline, offer a very similar climate: Mediterranean influence with extreme hot summers and mild winters.
Vinification method: The berries are fermented in open vats after gentle destemming, regular manual cap punch down, ambient temperature control, and spontaneous wild yeast fermentation with prepared pied de cuve starter from the same vineyard, gently pressing and immediate transfer to neutral oak barrels with as much yeast sediment as possible, natural malolactic completed, winemaking aimed at obtaining natural spontaneous microbial stability: clean healthy grapes, good acidity and fruit freshness at harvest, avoiding high alcohol and complex fermentation. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, with no added So2.
Tasting notes: medium bodied, honeydew, stone fruit, salted grapefruit and chalky minerality
