GRAPES: FIELD BLEND OF TRAMINER, SAUVIGNON, RIESLING
SKIN CONTACT: 1 MONTH
REGION: STYRIA, SLOVENIA
Vinification method: Radovan Šuman was born in Slovenian Styria, in the foothills of the Southern Alps, when it still belonged to Yugoslavia. His father, also a winemaker, fell ill when Radovan was a teenager, leaving him in de facto control of the family’s 300-year old winery and its four hectares of vines, composed of around a dozen, mostly Eastern European varieties.
"Sun Drops" is made from a blend of Traminer, Sauvignon, and Riesling grown in Slovenia. The grapes undergo a 1 month maceration on the skins and ages for 2 years on the lees in old oak barrels before being bottled. Unfined, unfiltered, with no added so2.
