GRAPES: 100% CHARDONNAY
SKIN CONTACT: 30 DAYS
REGION: WILLAMETTE VALLEY, OREGON
Producer: A native of Oregon, winemaker Joseph Swick returned to his home state in 2013 after a decade of working harvests in areas as diverse as Piedmont, Portugal, and Tasmania. Joe’s ethos is rooted in showcasing the unique cold climate terroirs of the PNW using a hands-off approach and experimenting with unconventional grapes for the area. Swick partners exclusively with organic and biodynamic growers to develop wines that he himself would like to drink - fresh, lively, with no conventional additives, only adding modest amounts of SO2 on select wines when absolutely necessary.
Vinification method: "Zero Point Zero's" Chardonnay grapes are harvested from Finnigan Hill Vineyard, planted at 700m on silty-loess soils in the Chehalem Mountains. The grapes are destemmed and macerated for 30 days. The wine then ages in a mix of 228L and 500L French oak barrels. As the name suggests, the wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered and with zero-point-zero sulfur added.
