2023
GRAPES: SYLVANER, AUXERROIS
SKIN CONTACT: LIGHT MACERATION (AUXERROIS)
REGION: ALSACE, FRANCE
Producer: In the village of Bernardswiller in Alsace, Anne-Laure Laengel makes wine from a single hectare she inherited from her late father in 2019, now in her early thirties. Her old vines — forty-year-old Sylvaner and twenty-year-old Auxerrois on clay and limestone — have been farmed organically since 2018. With her husband, the vigneron Christophe Lindenlaub, she shares a belief in holistic farming, patient élevage, and a “zero-zero” approach in the cellar. She has quietly become one of the region’s most exciting rising stars.
Vinification: A delicately-hued orange wine that marries direct-pressed Sylvaner with lightly macerated Auxerrois. Made the natural way, with no fining, no filtration, and no added sulfur.
Tasting notes: light-bodied, melon, fresh citrus, white peach, with a delicate floral lift
Pairing: fresh goat cheese and herb salad
DRINK: NOW TO 2027
